This is all coming from a sophomore in college so take this with a grain of salt, but visual research is common in this industry to show something as intangible as light. However, if you are thinking of pursuing Lighting Design as a career, these skills are worth the time and effort to learn (Vectorworks has an educational license available for free, and Vision is a separate license by the same company but their education version is also free).Īnother commenter suggested using Augment3D on an eos console, which I have not found to be the best visualizer, and to be entirely honest, I think your best bet will be one of, or a combination of the other suggestions I made. Unless you have quite a bit of experience doing this type of work, it will likely be more effort than it is worth for this project. For that particular video, I think it is likely that they drafted the plot and scenery in Vectorworks 3D, and then exported that file into a visualizer like Vision or Capture, and programmed it with a connected light board.
